Moving into the next term, a few chairmanships will change in the Mississippi Senate, but the leaders of big committees such as Appropriations, Education and Medicaid will remain the same as they were for the previous four years.
“We have spent hundreds of hours working on these assignments,” Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann said in a press release.
Hosemann is the appointing authority for committees in the Mississippi Senate as the president of the chamber.

Charles Wotruba, 70, was arrested on Friday and charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace
A 70-year-old man from Florida, Charles Wotruba, was arrested on Friday for allegedly pulling the plug on a bounce house filled with children.
Wotruba was charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace, but was released.
Police say Wotruba deflated the bounce house during a birthday party last month, and surveillance video captured him committing the act before disappearing across the street to his own house.

Payne, who was suspended when the one-time CNN and Fox pundit alleged that he had coerced her into a three-year affair, dismissed her on Twitter.
He said that he had been approached for a quote about the allegations last week by an unnamed reporter who then didn't use his comment.
